The process

Five steps from discovery to ongoing partnership

01

Week 1

Discovery meeting

We start with a conversation — not a sales pitch. We want to understand your goals, concerns, current financial picture, and what a successful retirement looks like to you. There is no obligation and no cost for this meeting.

  • →Review your current assets, income, and liabilities
  • →Understand your retirement timeline and spending goals
  • →Identify key risks: longevity, health care, sequence-of-returns
  • →Discuss Social Security and pension options
  • →Explain our fee structure and how we work

02

Weeks 1–2

Data gathering & RightCapital setup

Once you decide to move forward, we gather the detailed information needed to build your plan. We set up your RightCapital portal and begin populating your financial picture — accounts, income sources, expenses, insurance, and estate documents.

  • →Account statements and beneficiary designations
  • →Social Security estimates (ssa.gov)
  • →Pension and annuity details
  • →Insurance policies (life, long-term care, disability)
  • →Estate documents (will, trust, powers of attorney)

03

Weeks 2–4

Plan development

We build your comprehensive financial plan in RightCapital. This includes retirement income projections, Social Security optimization analysis, tax-efficient withdrawal sequencing, and stress-testing your plan against market downturns and longevity scenarios.

  • →Retirement income and spending projections
  • →Social Security claiming analysis (multiple scenarios)
  • →Tax-efficient withdrawal sequencing (taxable / IRA / Roth)
  • →Required minimum distribution (RMD) planning
  • →Monte Carlo stress testing for market and longevity risk
  • →Insurance and estate gap analysis

04

Weeks 4–6

Plan presentation & investment implementation

We walk through your plan together — every projection, every recommendation, every trade-off. You ask questions, we refine assumptions, and we agree on an investment strategy. Accounts are then transitioned to our management at Charles Schwab.

  • →Full plan review in your RightCapital portal
  • →Investment policy statement and asset allocation
  • →Account opening and transfer to Schwab
  • →Portfolio construction and initial investment
  • →Advyzon reporting portal setup

05

Annual + as needed

Ongoing review & updates

Your plan is a living document. We review it at least annually and update it whenever your life changes — a new job, a health event, a market shift, a change in tax law. Your RightCapital portal is always current so you can check your progress any time.

  • →Annual comprehensive plan review meeting
  • →Quarterly portfolio performance reporting via Advyzon
  • →Ad-hoc reviews triggered by life events
  • →Tax-loss harvesting and rebalancing as appropriate
  • →Updates to Social Security, RMD, and estate strategies

Common questions

Planning process FAQ

What is RightCapital and why do you use it?+

RightCapital is a goals-based financial planning platform that lets us model your full financial picture — retirement income, Social Security, taxes, insurance, and estate — in one interactive tool. Clients get their own portal to view projections, run "what-if" scenarios, and track progress between meetings.

How long does the financial planning process take?+

The initial discovery and plan-delivery phase typically takes four to six weeks. After that, your plan is a living document we review and update at least annually — and whenever a significant life event warrants it.

Is financial planning included in your advisory fee?+

Yes. Comprehensive financial planning using RightCapital is included for every advisory client at no additional charge. Our fee starts at 1.00% of assets under management annually.

What information do I need to bring to the first meeting?+

Recent account statements, a list of income sources (salary, Social Security, pension, rental income), any existing insurance policies, estate documents (will, trust, beneficiary designations), and a rough sense of your monthly spending. We will guide you through the rest.

Do I need to move my accounts to Schwab?+

For accounts we manage, yes — we custody client assets at Charles Schwab, which provides independent safekeeping, transparent reporting, and SIPC protection. We will handle the transfer paperwork.

Start with a conversation — no obligation.

The first step is a complimentary discovery meeting. We will listen to your goals, answer your questions, and explain exactly how we can help.
